Disclaimer

Welcome to my website!  My Disclaimer contains important information I need to share with you and for you to understand.  Please be advised of the following:

The information contained on this website is educational in nature and is provided only as general information and is not medical or psychological advice.

Transmission of the information presented on this website is not intended to create, and receipt does not constitute, any professional relationship between Jeanne C. Folks, D. Min, LPC and the visitor and should not be relied upon as medical, psychological, spiritual, or other professional advice of any kind or nature.

You understand by viewing this website you will be introduced to an integrative approach to psychotherapy and wellness which includes using relaxation/stress management techniques such as deep breathing and meditation, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).

EMDR has been accepted as a therapy for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) and is a recommended treatment for trauma in the Practice Guidelines of the American Psychiatric Association, the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense, SAMSHA, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the World Health Organization. However, EMDR is considered an experimental therapy for all other indications, except for PTSD as stated above, based on the current state of the published research on EMDR.

EFT is a relatively new healing approach and the extent of EFT’s effectiveness, as well as its risks and benefits, is not fully known but there is a growing amount of scientific research indicating that EFT is an effective therapy.  Please be advised EFT is considered a complementary or alternative method by the State of Connecticut.

This Disclaimer only applies to the information contained herein regarding Dr. Folks’ psychotherapy practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Connecticut.   There is a separate disclaimer for Dr. Folks’ Tapping Prayerfully® EFT Blog and Website which offers general information and products about EFT to the public.  If you are interested in general information about EFT, please use the blog link on this website to visit the Tapping Prayerfully EFT Blog and Website.
