Tap Into the Ground

The other day a friend was helping me sort a complex set of handouts for one of my upcoming workshops.  I had to make lots of decisions about what to use, what to consider and what to set aside.  I started to get really overwhelmed and confused.  Then I was confused about why I was confused.  I love Tapping Prayerfully and know the material well. . .   Then it dawned on me.  I’d become anxious about missing something important, had lost my connection to the ground AND didn’t even know it.  It was time to Tap and Breathe and it didn’t even occur to me.

On a walk later, I had the thought that becoming ungrounded is a little like being drunk.  As an extreme example, a normally responsible person whose been drinking might try get behind the wheel of a car because they are impaired.  Hopefully, someone who can think is there and takes the keys.

I was continuing to push papers around ineffectively and be short tempered with my dear friend because I’d lost my connection to myself and the earth.  I hadn’t been drinking, but I was impaired.  I wasn’t feeling supported, so I felt lost.  Therefore, I wasn’t making good decisions, or any decisions.  I wasn’t thinking clearly and I wasn’t coming from my heart.  I didn’t need a taxi, I needed to reconnect to my Source, and it never crossed my mind to tap!

In this instance, when my friend had the wisdom to remind me to breathe I got it.  Our time was short, but even just tapping for a moment on the karate chop point, hanging out there until I felt that delicious desire to take a deep breath made a big difference.  I then just stood still for another moment really feeling the ground under my feet.  Feeling God’s support through the power of the earth coming to love, help and sustain me.  I grounded yet again.
